Wow。 I literally couldn't put this book down。 The lore Scott Cawthon has created with what everyone thought was just a simple horror game at first is incredibly enthralling, and this book caught my attention from cover to cover。 I was so engrossed in this book that I forgot an entire day's worth of responsibilities and completely forgot to eat dinner。 I'm very satisfied with the ending though, so I don't think I'll read the others in the series。 I don't want to have to go through something like Wow。 I literally couldn't put this book down。 The lore Scott Cawthon has created with what everyone thought was just a simple horror game at first is incredibly enthralling, and this book caught my attention from cover to cover。 I was so engrossed in this book that I forgot an entire day's worth of responsibilities and completely forgot to eat dinner。 I'm very satisfied with the ending though, so I don't think I'll read the others in the series。 I don't want to have to go through something like this again XD 。。。more

Okay, so this could probably have used some more editing。 It was clunky and confusing in a lot of places。 But somehow I also enjoyed this? And it was not as horrible as I was expecting? I’m not saying it’s great literature or anything, but I was mostly entertained throughout and there were a lot of genuinely gripping moments。 The character development wasn’t necessarily top-notch, but it was there and I was legitimately expecting there to be none。I don’t regret picking this up and I might even p Okay, so this could probably have used some more editing。 It was clunky and confusing in a lot of places。 But somehow I also enjoyed this? It was what I expected but still entertaining。 *SPOILER ALERT* The book ends with the kids realizing the mascots were helping them from the crazy man who killed all the kids in the past, and the crazy man ends up dying from Charlie pushing the crazy man who is in the mascot so the mascot machine clamps down on his and cuts into him - killing him (but since it is a kids book, it isn't graphic and gross)。 After this, the kids go their separate ways。 The ending wasn't realistic in the regard that they just walk away from the murder scene and everything。 The ending felt rushed and wasn't really satisfying。 It basically ends *SPOILER ALERT* on the concept that the father was one of the mascots, but Charlie realizes this after going to her father's grave - where it seemed pointless as to why she would go there。 - 3Format: physical book (paperback) Average rating: 2。5 stars。 Round up: 3 stars。 。。。more

I listened to this with my son because he begged。 I was actually surprised, it wasn’t too bad。 There were bits that I had to stop and question but I think that was probably the Mom coming out in me。 We’ll probably listen to the sequel as well。 I loved the narrator, Suzanne Elise Freeman, I thought she was great。 If I could afford her I’d probably have her read my books。 3。7

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love this book so much, but that somewhat stems from the love of the games, I love how the author drew out emotions and made me so mad when Clay didn't believe Jason and the others when Dave took Carlton。 Very good writing, second favorite in the series。 I love this book so much, but that somewhat stems from the love of the games, I love how the author drew out emotions and made me so mad when Clay didn't believe Jason and the others when Dave took Carlton。 Very good writing, second favorite in the series。 。。。more

it connects right with the games lore and pretty much, picks up where they left off, with 5 murders and an abandoned Freddy Fazbears Family Diner。

Characters are one-dimensional (one of the couples were literally each other's names backwards, main character's love interest personality is literally boyfriend), only one random cop died。 Plot kind of meandered, up until the ending where they were chased by the animatronics for a bit, killer dies and that's that。 Honestly a boring read, though I do like the idea of a more realistic Freddy instead of the AI。 Lack of violence makes a good intro to horror for kids though。 Characters are one-dimensional (one of the couples were literally each other's names backwards, main character's love interest personality is literally boyfriend), only one random cop died。 Plot kind of meandered, up until the ending where they were chased by the animatronics for a bit, killer dies and that's that。 Honestly a boring read, though I do like the idea of a more realistic Freddy instead of the AI。 Lack of violence makes a good intro to horror for kids though。 。。。more

Not as good as the fazbear frights, and I always have to remind myself that this doesn't take place in the game verse because the lore gets switched, but still pretty good Not as good as the fazbear frights, and I always have to remind myself that this doesn't take place in the game verse because the lore gets switched, but still pretty good 。。。more

There is a character who is frequently referred to but doesn’t appear except in flashbacks。 The author doesn’t seem to be setting this character up to be evil, just with somewhat skewed priorities。 However, the little device this character invents seems the work of a sadist。You’d think a voiceover artist recording a book entirely set in one town would look up the pronunciation of that town’s name, especially an artist from the same state as Ely and Wayzata, (which also have misleading spellings) There is a character who is frequently referred to but doesn’t appear except in flashbacks。 The author doesn’t seem to be setting this character up to be evil, just with somewhat skewed priorities。 However, the little device this character invents seems the work of a sadist。You’d think a voiceover artist recording a book entirely set in one town would look up the pronunciation of that town’s name, especially an artist from the same state as Ely and Wayzata, (which also have misleading spellings)。 。。。more

My brother asked me to read this and, remembering how much I appreciated my parents reading the books I liked as a wee lad; I had to oblige。It's exactly as to be expected from a young adult (verging on mature children's) book based on a video game。The story is pretty sloppy in many places, the pace is all over the place, and the action seems to be confused in itself sometimes。 The characters all have that cheesy, grin and bear it attitude typical to these kinds of YA books。 I can't imagine readi My brother asked me to read this and, remembering how much I appreciated my parents reading the books I liked as a wee lad; I had to oblige。It's exactly as to be expected from a young adult (verging on mature children's) book based on a video game。The story is pretty sloppy in many places, the pace is all over the place, and the action seems to be confused in itself sometimes。 The characters all have that cheesy, grin and bear it attitude typical to these kinds of YA books。 I can't imagine reading this without having at least some knowledge of the games。 The main redeeming feature is envisioning the unsettling characters in some of this books few well-achieved moments of tension。 The descriptions provided here are so lacking that there is no way this book could be enjoyed at all without at least an image from its basis in mind。Also; why did it have to be so long! The paragraphs and descriptions are pulled out to their extremities。But hey - I'm not the target audience here。 Maybe if I were 11 and obsessed with the games like my little brother, it would have been an engaging addition to that world。 。。。more

I give this 4-stars with a couple of caveats。1) The book is geared towards a younger audience。 Not quite "Goosebumps young" but not quite YA either。 Its a fine horror book for a young teen。 It's probably going to be very flat for anyone older, and maybe a little too gruesome for anyone younger。2) For fans of the franchise only。 If you don't know anything about Five Nights at Freddy's this is not a very good entry point。 If you don't meet these two pretty specific criteria then the book is going I give this 4-stars with a couple of caveats。1) The book is geared towards a younger audience。 Not quite "Goosebumps young" but not quite YA either。 Its a fine horror book for a young teen。 It's probably going to be very flat for anyone older, and maybe a little too gruesome for anyone younger。2) For fans of the franchise only。 If you don't know anything about Five Nights at Freddy's this is not a very good entry point。 If you don't meet these two pretty specific criteria then the book is going to be boring and confusing。 Ordinarily that would merit fewer stars from me, but this book is intended to be consumed as part of a larger multimedia project and if you engage with it on those terms then it's pretty decent。 。。。more
